Microsurgery of the eye, keratoplasty
DESCRIPTION
The Ophthalmological Center actively uses all modern diagnostic and treatment methods for the diseases of the organs of vision; laser treatment is widely performed. The Center also performs phacoemulsification - a microsurgical operation to replace the lens using imported intraocular lenses (artificial lenses). Moreover, most operations are performed in a day hospital. In addition, this is the only department in the city health care system where keratoplasty is carried out for various pathologies, both electively and for urgent corneal diseases. A microsurgical instrument or a femtosecond laser is used during such operations to form a corneal flap and separate the damaged part of the cornea. A biomaterial - "a material for the restoration of the cornea" - is implanted in its place, which exactly corresponds to the size of the previously formed flap. With the help of a special suture material, it is attached to the peripheral part of the patient's cornea. After the operation, a bandage or a special protective contact lens is applied to the patient's eye.
