Responding to the urgent needs of the Russian military aviation industry, NIIVK specialists developed a unique project for automating the process of ion-plasma metal spraying in vacuum on aircraft engine blades. The object of automation was the MAP-2 installation, intended for deposition or removal by the ion-plasma method in vacuum of heat-resistant, erosion-resistant, wear-resistant and other types of protective coatings on the blades of aircraft turbines, primarily in the third-generation aircraft SU-27 and MiG-29.
