Cytokinins are growth substances that stimulate plant cell division. In most cases, they are adenine derivatives. These physiologically active substances also regulate the differentiation of cells in tissues, stimulate the deployment of buds and slow down the aging of plants. The best known cytokinins are zeatin and kinetin, as well as 6-benzylaminopurine, a widespread synthetic cytokinin.
